Who We Are
AITools is a one-person operation that reviews AI tools. No team of 20, no VC funding, no corporate sponsors. Just one person building products and writing about the tools that help (or don’t help) along the way.
We started this site because we were tired of reading reviews that were clearly written by someone who’d never actually used the product. Every review here comes from real usage — at least a week of building actual things with the tool.
How We Review
Our process is simple:
- Pick a tool based on what solopreneurs are actually asking about
- Use it for at least a week on a real project — not a hello-world demo
- Write about what happened — the good, the bad, and the pricing gotchas
Every review covers:
- What it does — plain language, no marketing speak
- How it feels — the real UX, not the feature list
- What it costs — pricing breakdown, hidden costs, free tier limits
- Who it’s for — is this tool right for a one-person business?
Scoring
We rate tools on three dimensions (out of 10):

The final rating is our honest verdict. A 9/10 means we’d recommend it to a friend without hesitation. A 5/10 means it works but has significant drawbacks.
What We Don’t Do
- ❌ No paid reviews, ever
- ❌ No affiliate links that influence our ratings
- ❌ No copying press releases and calling it a review
- ❌ No rating inflation — if a tool sucks, we say so
We buy our own subscriptions. Every tool reviewed here was paid for out of pocket.
How We Make Money
Right now, we don’t. This is a passion project funded by the work we do as a one-person company. In the future, we may add non-intrusive affiliate links (clearly marked) or sponsor a newsletter, but our editorial independence will never be for sale.
